On July 17, 2019, the House passed a bill that would repeal the currently inactive Cadillac tax.
The tax is an unpopular provision of the ACA, which is scheduled to take effect in 2022. The Middle Class Health Benefits Tax Repeal Act of 2019 would repeal the Cadillac tax before it ever takes effect. The bill gathered rare bipartisan support, with 419 lawmakers voting in its favor.
The bill would need to pass in the Senate and be signed into law before the repeal would become effective.
