Last week our Wellness Team participated in a Health and Wellness Fair for one of our international construction clients. The two-day fair was held at a work-site at the University Medical Center in New Orleans. Over 78 employees participated in full biometric screenings and over 670 construction workers participated in blood pressure and BMI screenings.
Our team conducted the “drunken goggles” event both days. Participants put on special goggles that simulate the effects of alcohol impairment, including reduced alertness, slowed reaction time, confusion, visual distortion, alteration of depth and distance perception, reduction of peripheral vision, poor judgment and decision making, double vision, and lack of muscular coordination; participants were made to “walk the line” on a special mat. Drinking and Driving is a threat to everyone.
Our client host said, “The guys really enjoyed the event and hopefully have a better understanding of their health and what they can do to make a positive change.” And that’s what it’s all about; our wellness initiative strives to promote better health throught our client organizations for better living, higher productivity and lower healthcare costs.
