Virtual Summer Camp Benefit to Assist Working Parents

With a large majority of summer camps and programs shut down due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, working parents are looking for new ways to keep their children active, healthy and occupied. According to data from the American Psychological Association (APA), 60% of parents have stated “they have no idea how they’re going to keep their children busy all summer.”

BurnAlong, a corporate wellness platform provider, has launched a virtual summer camp benefit for employer clients to help employees keep their children active, while they continue to work from home and provide for their families.

“We know there is a correlation between employee happiness and productivity,” says BurnAlong co-CEO Daniel Freedman. “A big piece of getting employees to stay [with an organization] is making them feel looked after, appreciated, and met where they are [in life].”

The virtual summer camp is for children of employees who use BurnAlong and who range in age from babies and toddlers to children in elementary school. Participants are offered a wide range of virtual classes taken via the device of their choosing, on topics including health and wellness, mindfulness, nutrition, and more. Individuals who utilize the BurnAlong platform can also connect and socialize with other friends, family members, or co-workers by simply inviting them to a class.

“Between the yoga and cardio our family is constantly getting fun exercise all day. It’s been great to see my family participate to stay occupied and healthy while I’m busy at work.”

Laurene Scott, Manager at Mid-Atlantic health system

If employers truly want to drive health and wellness awareness across their companies it isn’t enough to just focus on the employees; families must be part of the equation, Freedman says.

By expanding its scope of wellness and expanding their virtual fitness offerings, BurnAlong is bridging the gap of social engagement and granting ‘work from home’ parents the ability to maintain productivity and nurture their child’s well-being.
